What is a Zena Algae Peel?

Peeling Algae is a 100% natural peeling made from silicon algae.  This is a rare species of algae that grows in deep and cold waters.  Turning into fine particles-needles, they act as a magnet to remove dirt, dead cells and toxins from the skin.  In addition, penetrating deep, they provide skin with minerals and vitamins B1, B2, B3, selenium, vitamin E. The Peels get ordered from environmentally friendly raw materials from the lakes of Ukraine. It is a microneedle base algae consisting of a special type of algae sponge powder. The sharp needles act on the epidermis and stimulate collagen production. The algae protein spicules use MicroNeedling function to induce collagen production, a new science technology of bio-MicroNeedling.

How does it work?

The algae protein spicules use microneedling function to induce collagen production, a new science technology of bio-microneedling.  Its sharp needles act on the epidermis and stimulate collagen production. Superficial blood circulation and skin protective properties are improved. The spongin protein in the composition has an antiseptic effect.

What to expect during treatment?

During the treatment, the tiny spicules will begin to penetrate the skin to stimulate collagen and improve your skin cells. This part of the treatment is slightly sensitive there will be the sensations of prickling, heat increase and reddening. This is very normal and part of the treatment process. Immediately post treatment, the area may feel sensitive to touch, however this will subside.

It is important to note over the first 2-3 days post treatment, you may also experience some mild redness, dryness and sensitivity on the treated area.

What to expect after the treatment?

The seaweed crystals remains inside your epidermal layers for 24-30 hours before dissolving. Your skin will experience a mild redness. in the first few days after treatment you will experience dryness on the treated area. Subsequently it will peel for 3-5 days. During this time, the seaweed crystals is stimulating. The exciting collagen and new epidermal cells are developing. After the healing process, new rejuvenated skin will be revealed! 

Does the Algae peel make your skin sensitive to sunlight?

Its always best to apply a good quality Sun Block on your skin after any treatment. This peel is deeply exfoliating your skin and brand new cells are being created. Try to avoid activities in direct sunlight for the next 6-7 days. 

Contra-Indications:

  • Wounded skin, open wounds, skin lesions, scratches

  • Iodine Allergy

  • History of recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy

  • Severe Rosacea

  • Active infections dermatological disease (Herpes)

  • Eczema/Psoriasis/Dermatitis

  • Roaccutane/Cortisone use

  • Peeling/Needling/Laser done less than 15days

  • Keloid scarring

  • Any skin diseases

Am I going to peel after treatment?

Yes, this is a peeling treatment.

In most cases, the peeling of the treated area will begin after 3 days. The peeling could last 3-5 days depending on the individual and the aftercare regime.

DO NOT pick, scratch or pull at the flaking skin as this may lead to scarring and further damage to the skin. This will naturally peel as you complete a cleanse.

When will I see results?

In most cases, on day 7 your skin will be fully healed and recovered. Some individuals may see results and stop peeling up to day 10 but no longer. After the healing process a new, smooth  and rejuvenated skin will be visible.​

May I exercise after the peel?

Exercise that produces a lot of heavy sweating should be avoided the day of the peel. You may resume all regular activities the next day with caution. The prickling sensation in the skin will last 2-3 days.

How many peels will I need?

The number of sessions required for each person will vary due to their skin type and treatment concern. For the best results, it is recommended to complete 3-5 treatments, however in some cases, less sessions may be sufficient. Follow up treatments will need to be completed between 3-4 weeks after the initial session. Number of sessions will be discussed in the consultation.

What should I use at home to maintain the condition of my skin after a Zena Algae peel?

After care must be followed thoroughly . After Algae peel the skin will feel sensitive to touch, it will look pink/red and feel hot as the local skin temperature rises up due to increased blood circulation. There will be as sensation of needles on the skin for 24-30 hours.

The Algae peel is finished off with application of post treatment gel, it should not be washed off for 8 hours.

Only wash your face with lukewarm water the next day. Apply post-care after.

Hyaluronic acid serum and Sun Block should be the only products applied on the skin during the first three days. Sun Block should be applied every day for at least 10 days.

​

No heat or steam on the area for 10 days.

No other treatment can be performed on the area during desquamation. The Skin will be renewed during the next 3-4weeks. 

No self tanning products until skin peeling has resolved

Wear loose clothes for a few days after the treatment (body treatment)

Is it safe to perform on all Skintypes and ages?

Yes.

All skin tones can be treated. It is important to note that whilst all skin tones can be worked on that everyone's healing process and reaction differs. This will be discussed in the consultation.
